I find it fascinating that the people who complain the most about what I write about happen to be the most frequent visitors.  You know who you are.

    Dear Mr. Levin ,
Although I like to refer to you as “Kevin The Carpetbagger ” , ( the alliteration is so musical ) , and disagree with a great deal of what you write , I applaud and congratulate you for your energy , writing disipline , writing skills ,and devotion to history . I am aware of no other blogger who writes substancial entries every day ! I intend to read your blog , enjoy and then disagree ad nauseum !
all for the old flag ,

Actually, I had in mind two people who live here in Virginia. One of them I banned from commenting a few months back because his responses were at times so ridiculous. The other is a “friend” of Stonewall Jackson. Every so often I browse their sites only to find an indirect response to one of my posts. They never link to the post in question which is rather silly given that the blogosphere thrives on links. What is amazing is that they log on to my site at least 5 times a day.

Most of their responses are rather juvenile, but what I am still trying to figure out is why they spend so much time on my blog. I would like to think that they actually find it worth reading.

Judging from the number of responses I got when I was interviewed by the Southern Law Poverty Center on neo-Confederates, these folks keep a careful eye on people they perceive as threats. That notion was confirmed when someone on a usenet group who is of the neo-Confederate persuasion inadvertently revealed that he has done a background check on me (although he got critical things wrong … such is the nature of public records).

That’s what these folks are about.
