Charges Levelled Against Vandals

The three white teens accused of vandalizing a Confederate monument in Montgomery, Alabama will be tried as juveniles.  Leonard Wilson, state commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is not pleased:

Since these men
are all 17 years old, they are responsible enough to be subjected to
facing adult charges," he said, "and it’s in the greater interest of
the community to do so because this act caused great emotional harm to
thousands of Alabama citizens.

I would suggest that if you really want to punish these kids force them to sit through one of Wilson’s history lessons.  And while we’re at it let’s throw in H.K. Edgerton to boot.

Matthew–you make an excellent point, that the youths were making some kind of statement. Now what that statement was remains open to interpretation. But 11.11.31 was the date of Turner’s execution, not his rebellion.

Painting the faces brown and marking them with the date of Nat Turner’s rebellion: they’re not run of the mill kid vandals. What was the object of the exercise?

    Kevin,

I have a better idea. How about instead subjecting them to neo-Confederate ranting for 24/7/365? That ought to cure them of their proclivities. 🙂
