Our President

President Bush addresses the troops:

"There is no doubt in my mind when history
was written, the final page will say
:  Victory was achieved by the
United States of America for the good of the world; that by doing the
hard work now, we can look back and say, the United States of America is
more secure, and generations of Americans will be able to live in peace."

When Jon Stewart covered this last night on the Daily Show, he was courteous enough to give his audience a “spoiler alert,” in case some of us still want to be surprised about the final page of history.

David, — I caught this comment on a rerun of Stewart last night. Bush is the gift that keeps on giving. It would be one thing if this did not enjoy the benefits of an eduction; however, Bush was lucky enough to attend the top schools in the country. How is it possible that he can’t even put together a coherent sentence. Pathetic!

I don’t know how to break down that sentence — speaking of the future account of current events in the past tense. Reminds me of a joke I read at another website recently:

    ——-
A businessman arriving in Boston for a convention found that his first evening was free, and he decided to go find a good seafood restaurant that served Scrod, a Massachusetts specialty. Getting into a taxi, he asked the cab driver, “Do you know where I can get Scrod around here?” “Sure,” said the cabdriver. “I know a few places… but I can tell you it’s not often I hear someone use the third-person pluperfect indicative anymore”

    Kevin,

To paraphrase Jerry Ford, that other National Park Service Seasonal Ranger (from Grand Rapids)

Soon, our long national nightmare will be over.

And do explain to me the thing about NPS rangers…?

    Don’t forget to vote.
