Here it is. I don’t mind admitting that Little House on the Prairie is still one of my favorite re-runs. You also love it, but just won’t admit it.

"In this stunning and well-researched book, Kevin Levin catches the new waves of the study of memory, black soldiers, and the darker underside of the Civil War as well as anyone has... Levin is both superb scholar and public historian, showing us a piece of the real war that does now get into the books, as well as into site interpretation."

Kevin,
Distinction: I loved the ~books~ as a kid, but never liked the show. In fact, it may have been the difference between the two that originated a feeling in me that persists to this day: I hate tv knock-offs of my favorite books. Just the other day I was watching Fellowship and couldn’t help silently picking apart the movie. Anyway, I’m sure Dean Butler’s blog is just fine, but…

Wait: Who would’ve thought that Alison Arngrim—aka Nellie Oleson—would have a weblog called “Confessions of a Prairie Bitch”?! – TL

Hey Brooks, thanks for destroying my innocent memories of childhood.
Hey Kevin … after all you’ve done to denigrate “The Land We Love,” I needed to return the favor.
Clever reference Brooks. I guess I had it coming.
