Why I Love This Blog

I was trying to find the perfect post to demonstrate the benefits of threaded comments as well as the other features that Disqus offers and came across the following from January 6, 2009 on Lee and historical memory.  It’s not the post that I want you to focus on, but the comments.  First, I think the discussion moves much more smoothly with the threaded format, but more importantly, your comments are incredibly thoughtful.  Readers are engaged with the topic at hand and are listening to one another.  Hell, I don’t think you are going to find a more thoughtful and intelligent group of readers anywhere else in the blogosphere.  Give yourselves a hand and give Disqus a try.

    Hi Crystal,

Glad to see you set up an account. At some point track down one of your other comments on the blog and claim it as your own. This will then transfer all of your comments to your profile page. Your comments are always insightful so it will be nice if others can follow your thinking on this and other blogs.

Glad to hear it. Keep in mind that if you come across one of your old comments you will be able to claim them as your own and will be added to your profile page.

This looks like it might work pretty well for the threaded comments. It should, hopefully, avoid confusion in responding to comments of specific commenters. I'm not sure if I can add this to my free WordPress blog, but it appears I can. It also appears that it will work much better than the threaded comment feature available in WordPress.

      Greg,

I'm glad to see that you registered. You should be able to claim every comment of yours on this blog. If you can find an earlier comment it will give you the option to claim it as your own. Let me know how that goes. You will then have an archive of all your comments. That's pretty cool.
