I kind of like the colors that Harlan Bonar employs for his interpretation of the battle of the Crater, though I don’t see any USCTs. Check out his portfolio for other Civil War scenes. On the Crater front, just a quick reminder that I will be speaking tomorrow night at Genessee Community College in Batavia, New York.

His style brings to mind what you’d get if Van Gogh and Grandma Moses had a child.
His colors are very vibrant
I like his abstract non historical works the best.
After looking through his portfolio he certainly does have a different way of viewing the scenes – I can see a lesson forming comparing his work to more traditional paintings out there…I think my students will like to see the comparisons.
Excellent idea.
