New to the Civil War Memory Library, 04/23

Here is a list of recent acquisitions, including a few titles that I picked up while in Milwaukee for the annual meeting of the OAH.  I probably should refrain from accumulating more books at least through the middle of the summer.  More on this later. 🙂

    Kevin,

Do you only acquire books by university presses?

Didn’t you ask me that question before?

I’ve seen many of this books listed or adverstised in Civil War History, and elsewhere, and most of them look pretty interesting.

Having too many books and too little time is a continuing problem.

Hi Kevin. As long as you actually read all these books you’ve got nothing to feel guilty about. Especially, if you got some bargains on the last day of the convention. 🙂

Only two were from the convention. The rest are review copies. I read as much as I can.

Glad to hear. I was wincing imagining you trying to lug all those books through an airport as carry on luggage. 😉

BTW, I am going to read your review of GB’s book in the The Atlantic, but I’m reviewing it too so for obvious reasons I’m holding off until I’m finished and have finished my review. I’ll be curious to compare notes afterward. A very timely book.

On that note, I was surprised to find a really good used book store in the Milwaukee airport. The American history section took up one entire wall and included an entire set of bound volumes of Confederate Veterans. Can’t imagine lugging that onto the plane. 🙂
