Virginia Flaggers “Restore the Honor” One Racist Statement at a Time

Want to know why the Virginia Flaggers are not taken seriously in Richmond? It’s because underneath the rhetoric of “Restore the Honor” and “Heritage Not Hate” there is a great deal of racism. Grayson Jennings is a vocal member of the Flaggers. Here is his response to the recent decision in Jacksonville, Florida to change the name of Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. Yes, and that is Barry Isenhour, another prominent Flagger.  You could spend quite a bit of time unpacking Jenning’s post.

Virginia FlaggersSometimes I wonder why Karen Cooper (only black Flagger) associates with these people. What a shame. It seems like just last week that I was applauding the Flaggers.

    G. Ashleigh Moody III…sad comment from one of the “foremost authorities” on black confederates on the net…LOL

Yes, but why bother? After all, Jennings and Isenhour are the grumpy old men of the Flagger movement. The racism and bigotry that runs throughout the movement is astonishingly visible, as is the sheer hatred and desire to bully. As for Karen Cooper, well, she doesn’t like many black people, either: it’s not who you are but what you believe that defines someone.

2013 was a rather bad year in Flagger land. I doubt 2014 will be any better, although I believe the disasters will not be nearly so spectacular or memorable. Then again, never bet against Tripp Lewis.

Funny you say this, Brooks. But I bet if these neo-Confederates ever got the “homeland” they so desire, Karen Cooper, H.K. Edgerton and all the other Black neo-Confederates would no longer be defined by what they believe by that society. they would be deined as Black and told not to be a part of that society.

I see a world of difference between Edgerton and Cooper. Edgerton’s a performer who manipulates the situation for attention and profit. Cooper found status and acceptance that she’ll retain so long as she proves useful to the Flaggers.

But the common denominator for both Cooper and Edgerton is that they are people who are used by others to prove the Confederacy was not racist and that it wanted to preserve slavery. They are just brainwashed members of a cult.

Calling the Flaggers a cult seems to be going a bit far.

            Cults have better messaging discipline.
