    Hello Kevin

I wanted to get your thoughts on a recently published book, Theater of A Separate War: The Civil War West of The Mississippi River – Cutrer UNC.

I looked at it online at B&N and it appeared that there was only 1 small theater map and no illustrations. I would have thought that considering the publisher and the importance of the series per the publisher’s description, it would merit more than one map etc. They also published a very nice book on the western theater which only had on map, but had a number of illustrations.

    Regards
    Don

      Hi Don,

The book just arrived and I have not had a chance to look through it. Cutrer is a well respected historian and you can be guaranteed that he was chosen primarily for this reason. I am not an expert on this area of the war so that’s about all I can offer at this point. You may want to keep an eye out for Brett Schulte’s review. He focuses a good deal on this area of the war and is well versed in the literature.
