Book Tour: Fall 2019

As I mentioned the other day, Searching For Black Confederates: The Civil War’s Most Persistent Myth (UNC Press) will hit the shelves late August/early September. I know it might seem early, but I am already thinking ahead to planning a book tour. Over the past two weeks I have received a couple of inquiries about my availability. My goal is to stop at as many places and to address as wide a range of audiences as possible.

I anticipate teaching part time again next year, which makes my calendar fairly flexible. Weekends will be ideal, but once I have a clearer picture of my teaching schedule I will also have some weekdays free as well. If at all possible, I would like to stop at more than one venue in a given area, depending on the distance traveled.

Bookstores are obviously at the top of my list, but I also anticipate speaking at colleges and universities, book festivals, libraries, and Civil War roundtables. I am also going to make time for teacher workshops and, of course, students at the Middle School and High School levels. This book is ideal for opening up a conversation about a number of issues related to Civil War memory, especially the ongoing debate about monuments and memorials.

It isn’t too early to reach out if you are interested in having me speak. Even if we can’t finalize a date, let’s begin the conversation. September is right around the corner.

Let’s find you a venue in the Fredericksburg/ Spotsylvania area; surely the bloodiest land in the nation here, must be on your schedule and travels between the two Capitols.

Please consider coming to central CA–maybe our West Coast CWRT Conference?

Hi Meg. I would love to be able to travel to California. I am a little embarrassed to admit that it would be my first trip.
