Call For Papers: Society of Civil War Historians

The Society of Civil War Historians recently made some major structural changes.  They included revisions to its constitution, the adoption of Penn State University and the George and Anne Richards Civil War Center as its headquarters and the inclusion of a biennial conference.  The first conference will take place next summer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  I am very interested in putting together a panel on some aspect of Civil War memory, specifically on the way battlefields were used to shape popular thought.  Please contact me via email if interested.  Here is the call for papers from H-Net:

The Society of Civil War Historians will host an academic conference. This represents a new era for the Society at its first biennial conference on June 15-17, 2008, at the Union League in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. SCWH welcomes panel proposals or individual papers on the Civil War era broadly defined. The goal of the conference is to promote the integration of social, military, political, and other forms of history on the Civil War era among historians, graduate students, and professionals who interpret history in museums, national parks, archives, and other public facilities. The deadline for receipt of proposals is September 15, 2007. Submit proposals to William Blair, Director, Richards Civil War Era Center, 108 Weaver Building, State College, PA 16802. (814) 863-0151. Email Richards Center@psu.edu.

Well that was easy enough. All we need now is a moderator/commentator. Anyone out there interested? (LOL) I will be in touch shortly.
