[Hat-tip to Brett Holman]

This video has been up on YouTube for a couple of days, but for some reason I didn’t bother to listen.  Thanks to Brett for passing it along.  He even manages to throw in a reference to black Confederates.  I think you are going to enjoy it.

"In this stunning and well-researched book, Kevin Levin catches the new waves of the study of memory, black soldiers, and the darker underside of the Civil War as well as anyone has... Levin is both superb scholar and public historian, showing us a piece of the real war that does now get into the books, as well as into site interpretation."

I can see the SCV types not getting the joke and adopting it.

Thanks for this … it’s amazing how the South and too many folks in the North are willing to avoid the issue of slavery and dress it all up in the clothing of States Rights. The singer here gets it right … hee hee … it’s about states rights for those who happen to love slavery and want to keep humans shackled forever. Truth hurts; always does. Too many folks in this country still avoid the truth about race. When will it end? Have no idea; racism seems to be built into our DNA (tribalism, I suppose), but let’s keep up the good fight. DNA can be altered!
