Say hello to Mose, named after Col. John S. Mosby and for you “Office” fans, Dwight Schroot’s curious cousin. We picked up Mose, along with his sister, Clara, yesterday at a shelter in Hopkinton, just outside of Boston.
This pic was taken just after an intense 15 minute ear washing from his sister. Mose will be out of action for the rest of the afternoon.
Unfortunately, we lost our cat, Felix, this past September from cancer. He was an incredibly kind kitty. JEB and Felix have been with us for 14 years. While his brother, JEB, is adjusting well he is still an incredibly active and playful cat. We thought he might like some new playmates. Introductions will be made tonight and hopefully, if everything works out well, JEB and Mosby will soon be planning their next offensive.
Concatulations! Maybe “Mose” might reference the Hank Worden character from, “The Searchers”? (Maybe your wife is a John Ford fan?) Cynara and Tucker, my two furry demons, send their regards. Thank ye kindly.
It seems a posting about your cat generates more comments than your usual fare. Cute cat.
Perfectly understandable.
I’m a dog dude, but this is cool.
We all have our flaws. 🙂
Not named after Mose Allison, then, who died a week ago.
A worthy namesake indeed.
The shelter in Hopkinton wasn’t Bay Path by any chance ? That’s where we got our current dog. She’s a foxhound rescue that was flown up from Kentucky. The current cats are all are all ones that found either me or my wife. The oldest is Clara after Clara Barton; Abigail (Adams); Fanny
(Seward). Like potato chips….you can’t have just one !!!
It was. Turned out that it is pretty difficult to find kittens in Boston. We would love to adopt adult cats, but we feel more comfortable acclimating them at a young age and we wanted to minimize the treat to our older cat as much as possible. The staff at the shelter was very helpful.
HURRAH for the bonnie gray cat !!!!
Good one, Roger. Bonnie would have been a great name for a girl.
They’re gorgeous. I’m sure JEB will turn out to be a kind and gracious big brother, especially once he’s introduced to Clara’s expert ear washing technique. BTW, if you want to keep to a Civil War theme, Clara’s secondary inspiration for her name can be Clara Barton, Civil War nurse, appointed by Abraham Lincoln as General Correspondent for the Friends of Paroled Prisoners, founder & first president of the American Red Cross, and revered in my birthplace, Johnstown, PA, for the work of her and her organization in their work after the Johnstown Flood.
It will take a few days for JEB to get adjusted, but he has been a trooper and has shown no aggression thus far. Clara was hanging around Michaela’s bookshelves of music so I think the classical music reference works. So much fun. 🙂
Rescue kittens! The best!
Always.
Yay! Two more saved from the shelter! Congratulations; Mose looks very handsome.
Thanks. They are both incredibly cute and completely disruptive to anything having to do with serious thinking and writing. We are slowly trying to introduce them to our older cat, Jeb. Making progress.
Cute, fluffy kitty. 🙂
Like nickels in the earpiece, a little conditioning each day and she’ll accept it.
I didn’t think I would come here and learn a factoid about The Office.
Aw! We have a gray kitty as well–gray and white. He looks just like a Confederate officer! Being Yankees however, we chose to name him Fursey, after an Irish saint.
My wife isn’t entirely happy about another Confederate officer running around the house so I tell her to focus more on the “Office” connection. That doesn’t seem to work either. Will need to give it some time. 🙂
